Prior to everyone reading this, I want thank all parents and athletes who have a ball and bring it to practice.
Now I'd like to remind all athletes bringing a ball is mandatory. It is non-negotiable. This week JV has had some players bring a ball every practice, and I thank you for that. However, a majority are not.
You are taking balls away from either the varsity team. Today it was the boys varsity team. This is not acceptable. We plan, and this takes us time, for everyone to have a ball. When we are attempting to create drills for any of our three teams, if one team does not have enough soccer balls to compliment the drill, those who did not bring a ball are literally hurting the teams you must take balls from.
So, from here on out if you do not bring a ball you will be asked to sit out - by me. I have told everyone and given plenty of time for people to get a ball. They range from $10 and up. These are affordable. It is the responsibility of the parent to make sure their child is equipped to practice and play. It is the responsibility of the athlete to be sure they bring what is mandatory.
Please keep in mind if you do not have a medical condition and must sit out Coach Baker is free to count that as not attending practice. This can count towards the absence policy. Sooner than later, she will then have the right (as stated in the info/guidelines/rules packet you all signed agreeing to it) to sit the player for games.
This will be crossposted to all teams and sent on Remind in some form.
Start taking your mandatory items seriously. These are necessary for a successful day of practice.
I will be honest, when I have players complaining to me that they did not have have enough soccer balls to successfully complete drills I pre-planned (which I take hours to do) - it made me severely unhappy. Not with the players complaining, but knowing they did not receive the full amount of touches on a ball they should receive. Especially since those complaining are bringing their mandatory equipment.
Step up. Thanks and remember there is an open practice with Coach Ryan McMunn tomorrow from 12:00 - 2:00.
Equipment issues need to be handled by Monday or please let Coach Baker know you need to take an unexcused absence. This is non-negotiable. Ball size is 5.
